What to Expect

A day on the river is a full day. We'll start very early morning at a convenient location near to where we’ll put in. Depending on the season and river, this would likely be around 6:00 a.m. After a full-day float, we'll generally return to that site by around 2:00 p.m. It’s a good idea to dress in layers for the day, as the weather can change dramatically over the course of those hours – Oregon weather can be unpredictable.

On the river, there are typically two or three people in the front of the boat and I’m in the back. And if you have a larger group, I work closely with other guides and together we can certainly accommodate a great day of fishing for everyone.

All skill levels are welcome – from first timers to seasoned veterans. I, personally, love watching someone hookup and land that first fish. Children over the age of nine are welcome aboard.

Gear

I'll provide all the gear, tackle and bait. I fish with top-line equipment that you can rely on for the fish we're going after and the river conditions that day. If you'd like to use your own gear, just let me know when you book a trip so we can ensure you're prepared to succeed with the proper setup. I also have life vests available on the boat and will require anyone under the age of 12 to wear a vest at all times.

The Boat

You'll be floating in a 18-foot, custom Clackacraft drift boat. This thing is set up to fish. There’s a heater in front and customized captain seats for your fishing comfort.

License

Be sure you purchase your license before the trip. You will need to bring a valid fishing license and Salmon & Steelhead tag. Tags are included with the purchase of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7-day licenses. We won’t go on the river without one.

Food & Drink

I'll have coffee and water on the boat and space in the cooler for any food you’d like to bring. It’s a long, active day, so be sure to bring lunch and snacks to keep up your stamina for fighting the fish!
